Hi kprather,
Welcome to the HVAC Group!
The introduction of R-410A as a replacement for R-22 has generated concerns as to its safety. R-410A has a much higher vapor pressure than most of the refrigerants in use today. The discharge pressure of R-410A is approximately 50% to 70% higher than R-22. It is likely that what you read in Assignment 23 is a typo error and thanks for bringing it to our attention.
The guage manifold is a very important tool and the set used for R-410A is specially designed to withstand the higher pressures associated with the new refrigerant. The manifold sets are required to range up to 800 psig on the high side and 250 psig on the low side with a 550 psig low side retard.
All hoses should have a service rating of 800 psig. ( This information will be indicated on most hoses).
Good Luck with your studies!
