Hi jwolfrf15,

Welcome to the HVAC Group!

You should receive your textbook Fundamentals of HVACR in 7-10 days. While waiting for your textbook to arrive you could read the instructor blogs where you will find a lot of interesting HVAC information. When you receive your textbook, each lesson/unit will have an exam which will be necessary for you to take online. If you do not receive the textbook in 7-10 days, contact the office and/or the student help desk.

This is a great course to learn the Heating and Air Conditioning trade and is designed for you to learn at your own pace. I strongly encourage you to read everything in each lesson carefully. If there is anything that you do not understand completely, then re-read that particular part. If you still do not understand it completely, then ask me, your instructor and I will be happy to assist you.

Everyone has their own method of studying, therefore you get out of the course what you put into it when you apply yourself. Air Conditioning/Heating is a great trade and I have been working in it for a long time. I enjoy it and usually have fun on the job. I encourage students to get involved in the field as soon as they can as it will reinforce what you learn here at Ashworth.

EPA certification is very important in our trade and is a requirement for most employers. When you finish the course, you will be given a 12 page study guide and a $75 voucher to take the EPA 608 test. Study the guide and you should pass the test with no problem. Once you understand Air Conditioning systems and how they work the test should be easy. When you get to unit 28 you will find a lot of information that is on the test.

Good Luck with your Studies!
