Whether a couples' wedding rings are simple/traditional or spiced up should be determined by the couple. When my husband and I got engaged he had me choose my engagement ring (he said he wanted to be sure I loved it). I chose a white gold ring with a solitary sapphire surrounded by diamond chips....kind of like the Royal Engagement Ring (I didn't know it at the time), I just prefer sapphires...diamonds are my birthstone and I find them plain and boring on their own. We chose Celtic eternity knot wedding bands to be different for our wedding bands...we loved it's meaning, "The Celtic Knots are inter-weaved in pairs symbolizing the joining together of the loving couple. There is no beginning and no end to the knots representing eternal love." In my opinion the more personal and unique wedding rings are, the better...it is a reminder of how special the couple's love for one another is.
